Hey all! Simple question…why did you pick the franchise you did? Originally, I was going to do Bioshock, my god was it hard to convert. So much has to be made up, that it was hardly Bioshock anymore… Then, I thought, “Hey, an army of space zombies would be great, and if I wait a couple of weeks then Dead Space will be released! Then ill have some seriously cool space zombies under my command! Then I read the rule about ‘No spoilers’…d**n… So I though, and thought, and came up with something that I enjoyed immensely (despite only having played so much of it) and was an army that had a clear cut ‘this is weak, this is strong, this is MEGA!’ right from the start…ORIGINAL DOOM! So…what did the rest of you do?

I just love good old fashon cheesy sci-fi, and the old battlestar was one of the greatist (the new one is a bit conceited in my opinion, but I love it too ;D). I like older sci-fi because they often had to have a really good story to make up for their low budget special effects. And Battlestar delivered, even though it could be very silly at times, and you can't help but roll your eyes at certain parts/acting/special effects, but that's one of the fun parts of the golden oldy cheesy sci-fi experiance ;D. Plus, it was a real dissapointment for me that it got cancled after it's first season, 20 years before I was born. They never did find earth . I liked the Cylons a lot because I think it was pretty original that they were a race of killer robots made by aliens that humanity had to deal with, instead of the usual "omg our own machines have turned against us." Plus they're crazy. One moment they have their asses handed to them by children, the next they've annihilated another civilization. Anyway, if you like this sort of thing, you can watch it for free at NBC.com. If nothing else it's good for the *laughs*z ;D.

Good old cheesy 60's-70's sci fi. I was for doctor who because it was compelling, interesting, and so horredously cheesy that every episode had you asking "What the **** will they think up next, my god! that was an aweful piece of Special effects/costuming/plot.
The new one started well with eclleston, but went doooooooown really fast, REALLY!

Star Wars. Because well.... *Facade clicks button* *Bzzzzt!* Lightsabers. And I love the whole universe of Star Wars. It amazes me, there's so much history on it. I use Storm Troopers, Clone Troopers, New Republic Troopers, Mandalorian Warriors, Sith Troopers, Dark Troopers, ARC Troopers, Delta Command Squads, etc, etc. There's just so much to choose from. But I specialize on Troopers & Clones.

OMG I was so obsessed with Star Wars in high school. Me and my friends worshoped Star Wars. The only thing I don't like about it is how dark the post- Return of the Jedi expanded universe is . But even that can be cool ;D (like the yoozong-vong, or however you spell it). But the point is, Star Wars rules ;D. But I hate it when people say it's better then Star Trek. I can understand people not liking Star Trek, it doesn't have the Universal appeal of Star Wars, but they are fundementaly different, and Star Trek came first. I'm just sayin'. And about Dr. Who, I've seen a few episodes of that with the eccleston(or however you spell/say it) guy and I thaught they were great. But I have been afraid to watch it with the new guy... The last episode I saw was the one where they braught in the new guy, and I heard he was a bad actor.

Yuzhaang-Vong
Yeah, they were crazy Mo-fo's (pardon my french).
I remember when the Emperor was cloned and he tortured Luke SKywalker. And it is said the Jacen Solo turns into a Sith Lord long, long after Luke & Han's time.
Star Trek isn't my favorite.....Don't like it...meh.

au.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1eFdUSnaQMThis is why its technically impossible for me to seriously "like" star trek...seriously. It was epic though...in its own little way. As for the new guy, David Tennant is an alright actor, but the problem with the new series was the scripts and co-actors. Id say that Tennants first series as the Doctor was good, the next one was horrible, and the one after that had few redeeming aspects but felt really old and overdone. Why, Mr Tennant, Why won't you die and regenerate into something fresh? EDIT: i like where this has gone, so i wont scream "back on topic". However, new people should begin with why they chose that franchise.

*laughs*, the gorn ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. ARENA: I love that episode. It actually had a pretty good story to it. You can kind of explain how slow it is by saying it was from a high gravity world, but you can't explain away that awful karate chop. But yeah, it's no big deal if people don't like Star Trek. They had like, no money and it was the 60's. I just like it because it has great background to it (and most of the movies were good. Aww, who am I kidding? I loved them all, even the first one that was really boring). Maybe I should do it instead, because it would be WAY easier to make the stages (ENT, origional series, Next generation). I still havn't figured out my Cylon tech tree .

The one thing i dont get about it is why can the gorn (?) can lift up and hurl that massive freakin' rock, but not overpower capt Kirk? If it was a high gravity planet, than the gorn (?) would technically be BUFF AS, but he cant beat up a lowly human!

*laughs*, exelent point. I have a feeling it has to do with wormhole/tacheon/phase emmiter/compenstors or some such . Maybe the Gorn was too civilized to just outright kill him, and he had to overcome his empathy first, or some BS like that ;D. After all, believe it or not, he's the captain of a starship too. @facade: What I really don't like about the expanded universe is how they killed Chubacca. WTF is wrong with them?

My Gosh, i really want to do Dead Space as a franchise after playing the game through (nearly, im like 1.5 chapters away from the end). It has everything that i want from a franchise, but because of "SPOILERS" i cant do it! DOOM will suffice...i guess...but take a look! The Necromorphs are awesome! And there are so many types! And they are actually threatening and hard to take down (unlike those other space zombies...the flood...which are apparently made from lime jelly). At this angle, Issac would be skewered a couple of times and then cut in half at the waist before he could swing his cutter to even pistol-whip the Uber-Slashers. ME DO WANT! Edit: BTW, this was the cleanest picture i could find. The rest are rather gory...and much better. Also, i remember one episode of star trek i liked..."The trouble with Tribbles". i liked it simply because the plot wasn't "OH NOES, WE ARES GOING BE BLOWN UP!" but rather "Awww crap, these things are everywhere! This will take freakin ages to clean up! aww jeez! Did they have to freakin grow out of control...did they. They coulda just tried to beat us up and be done with it, but they instead decide to multiply and clutter up the place...thats just freakin annoying!"

back to the doctor who thing, david tennant announced last night that he's leaving after the 4 special episodes their doing for next year. Speculation is now for who will replace him, honestly, someone suggested Lenny Henry.

Hmmm...i did enjoy Tennants first series...especially The two part "Impossible planet/the satan pit" for dealing with harsher themes than usual. The cyberman's 2 eps were entertaining, and overall the series was good. However, it has become stale with time...i will be interested to see how they work out some plot points without tennant (river song for example)...and who the new doc will be.
and i guess my rather large nudge wasn't large enough...necromorphs, necromorphs...necromorphs *cough* excuse me...
And gold, why did you pick advance wars? A reminder to all that that was what i started this for...

yep, off topic comes with having a lax mod who doesn't really mind at the minute.
I picked advance wars basically by default. Quite a few years ago I was introduced to Advance Wars: Black Hole Rising (UK name) by a good friend of mine, and I was taken on board instantly. I've got every game in the series since then, and adopted the title of Commander-in-Chief of the Black Hole Army (the bad guys), simply cause they don't get a big enough break and it takes the combined forces of the entire planet to stop them, so they're pretty good. So i decided i may as well stick to what i know and choose that. plus it's pretty easy to transfer the units over to this format.
