I'm not sure how much coverage Doctor Who gets worlwide, but it's a bit of a cult here in England. Anyway, now that we know David Tennant's hanging up his sonic probe, who do you think will be the next doctor to fill the role. Candidates for the job: Paterson Joseph: Has already guested next to Eccleson in 2 episodes, and will be the first black doctor if he takes the part David Morrisey: Set to be in the Christmas episode as a character called other Doctor Sean Pertwee: Has generally been ignored for the role, has shown his interest to take the role following his father's (Jon Pertwee) footsteps. James Nesbit: A real favourite for the role, yet has told the press he is not interested as he feels it is career suicide to follow tennant into the role There's a couple others, follow the link: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7699513.stm Also, a few years ago I heared of an American version of Doctor Who was to be done, featuring Billie Piper re-taking her role with her universes version of the Doctor. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

On a less no chance in hell note, Im just interested on how they'll sort out the sub-plot about River Song, the future companion...

they'll find a way, for al we know she's the one involved in his regeneration.
Good news ghost, for this years Children in need special, it looks like all the surviving doctors have come together to make a short special edition episode, just for that. I don't know if anyone outside the UK got to see the Peter Davidson one last year, but if you guys don't get it there should be a link to it appearing sometime in the weekend.

I heard about the peter davidson one... poor peter... it wasn't his fault he fell into the poisonous bat-spun spiderweb.
I suppose river song left it open, "spoilers" and all.
As for the doctors getting back together... HA! that would be quite a thing to see! Seven doctors... that beats the current record of four by a bit!

yea, unfortunately the papers got it wrong again, it was just a clip of the christmas episode which suggested that the next doctor would be... David Morrsey, as said above. Basically it was a short clip of the doctor arriving in victorian times and hearing someone screaming for the doctor. He goes, gets told he's not the doctor by the screamer, in comes morrisey and a dor breaks open to show a small, purple cyberman. Both doctors take out their sonic probes and that's the end of it.
Now, i don't know about anyone else, but a) cybermen aren't purple or small and b) its a little obvious to give away the next doctor so soon before regenration. I think something funny's going on.

You're right, something funny is going on. David Morresy isn't the new doctor, look at uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IVT6LXK1KMA and look at 2:30 and 2;17, David Morresys sonic screwdriver is a normal screwdriver. Also read comments. Also i just managed to post within the thread necromancy limit, just.

not that i really mind about necromancy. we haven't got enough threads for it to apply

so, now we know that david morrisey's character will not be the next doctor, though i don't know about anyone else, but to me that episode seemed a bit...lacking. It seemed to me more of a tease than a proper episode, which came close to ruining the whole thing. It's stuff like that which makes me long for Steven Moffat's turn as head writer to come quite soon
edit: actually, there was a Doctor Who Confidential special (for those who haven't seen it, it shows you how the show is made) showing the next doctor, but unfortunately, i missed it.
