Hi there. Recently I've come across a load of viruses and spyware (and I'm infected with some myself at the minute, but i'm working on it), and with the recent news of a load more being discovered, i decided it was best to do a viruswatch thread, providing you with information on how to prevent or remove viruses and malitious programs on your systems.
Recently I became the victim of a trojan horse which downloaded a program onto my systems called Virus Protect 2009. This is how it works. It disguises itself as an anti-virus program, which runs "scans" on your computer, which finds long lists of fake viruses on your system. It them pressures you to buy the program to remove these threats. You will also see what seems to be a windows message appear from time to time, telling you you're infected, but this message is not genuine either.
DO NOT BUY SPYWARE PROTECT 2009. It is completely false, but none of the current anti-virus/spyware programs yet have the capacity to remove it. For removal instructions go to www.virus-removal.com and search for the program.

And remember, keep your firewalls on, your programs updated and your prevention programs recent.
